The Zone has made some great changes to the site. Here is the zOverLord's zOverview to some of my favorite features.
Recently Visited Games
Want to get to your games faster? Well now you can. The MSN Gaming Zone home page has added a new feature called Recently Visited Games. Now if you like to play a group of games they will be tracked so you can easily jump between them. Your most recently visited games are even tracked between visits to the Zone.
Chats & Events Area
My community team now has its own area. It's not much right now, but you will want to check here often if you're looking for fun events. And, of course here is where you'll find my own Word from the zOverLord.
Profiles
This is probably my number one favorite new feature. You can easily find out more information about the person you are playing with, what team or Clan they belong to and their favorite game. No more faking that you belong to a Zone clan when you don't! All you have to do is look up their team affiliation. Another fun thing to do is look up people's names. With 8 million members, we get some pretty wild ones. The search is also nice if you forgot if it was Joker26 or Joker_27 you were playing in Cribbage last night. We will also be adding Awards to the Profiles. If you win in a Zone tournament or event, you will get a Zone Trophy added to your profile. Look up my own Zone name to see an example.
Retail Lobby Update
We did an overhaul of the retail game rooms. If you know you want to Host a game all you have to do is hit the Quick Host button, type in your settings and you're done! No more hunting for empty games. If you just want to play a quick game, we also have Quick Join. This will put you in the first available game, so no more searching. We have also added the List View. This will allow you to view and sort all the game tables by latency, game name, player name or rating.
Page a Sysop
Ever want to get hold of a Sysop but couldn't find one? Well, now they are just a click away. In any of the game rooms you can select the Zone menu item and then Contact Sysop. This will take you to a screen asking if your problem is with a disruptive player or a technical problem. Select your area of concern and you will be taken to the proper area for assistance.
These are just the tip of the Iceberg on this new release of the Zone. You can read more detail information here, or in the Zone help area. Also if you are looking for more fun things to do with other Zone members, how about creating your own free Home Page or join the MSN Gaming Zone Community page.
See you up there,
