Tips for every map

By PsychoDanz

These tips pertain to team play only. Every map is divided into two teams -- Gold and Blue. I prefer the Blue team, although the Gold one seemed better in the past. You must remember these are my strategies. You'll need to find your own strategies that work for you. The best way to learn is on your own.

The ** indicate maps that are hardly ever chosen by Zoners.

The * indicates maps that are sometimes chosen by Zoners.

Airport
Blue: You have two choices.

First, come out of the side door, not the front, or you'll be shot. Now go into the back of the big building and then behind the one shaped in a T form. From there, go to the right and snipe the people on the opposite side. Be careful, the opposite side may be doing the same.

Or, when coming out the side of the big building, run straight toward the house, but don't go in the house. There is an entrance next to the back of the house that works better in this situation. Once you're behind the brown fence, go forward slowly and snipe in on what looks like a white reservoir. If no one is there, snipe in on the side of the opposite side's big building. If you still don't find anyone, you can advance, hiding behind the two antennas and the reservoir.

Gold: You also have two choices.

Get out of the side door, not the front. Once you're out, go to the back of the big building you came out of until you reach the end. Once you're near the end, strafe until you have a good angle on the opposite side and snipe on anyone who is there. If no one is there, you can advance to the front of the building to get a bigger view. Be careful of some people on the second floor of the house behind the big glass.

Second, when you come out the side of the building, run to the back of the reservoir. Here, choose one side to snipe. Once you've chosen, slowly move to the side of the reservoir but keep a part of your body protected. Try crouching because the reservoir is not a rectangle, it's oval. You can shoot from "under" the reservoir.

Amazon
Blue: You have many options, I will explain the two that I think are the most effective.

You start on the second floor. Don't go downstairs. Open the door that brings you outside. Now once you're out, turn around. To the right of the door you exited, there is a passage that brings you to the roof of the other house. Once you're on the other roof, go to the sides and look for people coming out. You can also chuck frags to the back, where people usually go.

Second, you can quickly go downstairs. Once you're down on the side you're facing, there is a door. Go in it and down the couple of stairs you see. On the opposite side, there is a door you should exit. Now, turn to your left, strafe to the side around the corner, and shoot if you see anyone.

Gold: This is tough if people are on the roof. You have two choices:

You can risk it and go out the side door, but beware. There might be someone on the roof waiting to shoot you. If there's no one on the roof, you can go into the corner facing you, or you can go to the back of the house and shoot anyone coming. I don't recommend this though.

The best thing to do is to run out the front door. You can either enter the other building or go to the back of the other building. Now just wait there, watch your back however, enemies can come out of the back door.

Athlete's Village
You both start on the same level. Use your frags and hbs (heartbeat sensor) a LOT in this one. The most important thing to remember is: Know where your enemies are by using your heartbeat sensor.

Blue: You start on the opposite side of Gold, and there are three basic methods of operation. If you choose to go right, go up, and use your hbs until you see someone. If no one shows up on hbs, keep going to the other side. If you choose to go left, you'll encounter the middle hallway. Go up the hallway, but beware because they can do the same from the other side. If you choose to go straight, stop at the L and use your hbs to find the enemy. If one is coming around the L, you can throw a frag. If no one is there, go up.

Gold: It's pretty much the same thing except that left in Blue is right for Gold and vice versa.

**Bio Dome
This map is extremely big.

Blue: You start in your own zone, look on the map, and try to get to the center dome. Notice the halls on top? You'll have to try to get there. In this dome, the passageways go up from the middle. I think the second door brings you to where you want to be.

Gold: The scenario is the same for the Gold team as for the Blue team.

Bio Lab
Blue: You start outside in the back and have two choices. You can go forward into the front part of the map and hide behind one of the small buildings waiting for people to come out of the big building. On the other hand, when starting, go to your left behind the big building and go forward until you're in the front of that building. Be careful, the opposite team may try to do the same.

Gold: I haven't found much for you to do with this team. However, the best thing is to go outside, turn to your left and go along the side of the building until you reach the back. Strafe a bit and crouch if needed. Some of the opposite players sometimes stay in their zone so it becomes an easy kill for you.

Congo
Blue: Usually people think that the Blue team has a disadvantage. However, you don't...

You start in the secluded area of the map. Switch your night vision on and run, run, run out of there. Once you see the house, go to your left. Be careful! The Gold team is waiting on the porch and will spot you right away so you'll have to move fast. Once you're behind the small, long shed, you can stay in there and shoot the ones outside or continue forward. Go into the small basement. Continue to the left side of the house; go into the big opening that brings you to the basement. Now, go up those stairs and find your way out on the side of the house, not the front. Once you're there, shoot everyone outside who has been waiting for you on the porch.

Gold: You have two choices:

Go out the side door on to the "porch" and snipe the people coming out of the bushes over there. They can't see you but you can see them.

Alternatively, go to the basement and go outside to kill the people who made it past your buddies on the porch.

**Dam
I have only played this one once. I'll work on strategies for a future article.

Embassy
Blue: You have two choices:

Start downstairs. Go up to the second level on the left side and turn left. Use your map to guide you to the stairs that bring you up. Someone may be waiting there, so be careful.

Alternatively, you can go outside and go around the house to the ladders. Climb up as high as you can and shoot the door down. You are now on the third level where the other team starts.

Gold: You have two choices:

Go into the big hall that leads outside. Shoot the locked door down and go out. Go down both ladders and come into the house from one of the side entrances.

I prefer this option. Find the stairs that bring you to the second level and wait there. People usually come this way. You can either shoot them as you spot them, or prepare a frag with max power. Hold the frag in your hand so that when you want to throw it, you can just let go of the button. As soon as you see someone, throw the frag down the stairs and move out of the way. If you hear a guy dying, it's safe to go back in front of the stairs. If not, he's still alive...

Estate
Blue: You start outside. Turn night vision on and run to the right side, along the wall. Be careful, there are sometimes people on the balcony to the left of the house. Once you reach the end of the wall, you'll be in a corner. Face the left side (the opposite side of the wall). There is a door there, and if anyone tries to get out, shoot him or her. If no one is out, use your heartbeat sensor. You can either enter the estate from the front door, or you can continue past the car and enter the inside, or alternately, there is a door on your left where you can go upstairs.

When starting, you can also sneak up behind the trees and watch the balcony and windows, you'll take them every time

Gold: You have many choices, but none are really great.

You start upstairs in one of the Embassy rooms. Run to the end of the hall, open the door, turn left, and open that door. You are now on the balcony. This is an extremely dangerous place, but it's good if no one knows you're there. Gradually advance and try crouching for better stealth.

Once you're out of the room, turn left right away and go downstairs. You will be brought to a door -- open it. Once you're in the new room, turn left to another room where you'll find a door on your right. When you open it, you'll be in the garage. From here, go into the corner and use your heartbeat sensor.

Another option is to open the door after the stairs, go right and open this door. You will have a nice view of what's going on outside, but be careful, you may be easily killed.

Once out of the room, go straight. You will be brought to a place where the hall turns a little to the left. Turn right, and go downstairs. You will see a door there that you should open and go through. I usually go left and move along the side of the house, which eventually brings me to the front.

Hacienda
People think that starting with the Blue team here is a disadvantage, but both teams actually have equal chances.

Blue: You start outside as the incoming team. Run toward the big walls and watch out. Some people are on the balcony in front. You can still run though, and I recommend running to the left and hiding behind the shed. You have a nice view here of the side doors. If no one appears, you can enter the house through one of these doors.

Gold: You have two good choices:

Start in the basement. Go straight up and turn right at the door. Then take another right into the hallway. You should now be in front of another flight of stairs. Go up these stairs into a room with a door. Open the door and walk onto the balcony. On one side, you have part of the interior of the house. On the other side, you have big walls where the Blue team is hiding. You don't need to go to the end of the balcony on the edge to shoot the Blue team or they'll see you. Approach slowly and crouch. Once you have a good view of the walls, you can shoot anyone coming. Shoot through the bars of the rails of the balcony.

Alternately, go up and instead of turning right, go forward to the door and open it. You can either go left or right from here. I personally recommend going left and moving along the side of the house. You'll carefully approach the front. You can get a good view of the big walls from here, and you'll see where the Blue team comes out. Be careful, some people hide behind the shed in front on your right.

Killhouse
I really hate this one. It's very difficult and remember to use your frags a lot.

Blue: You start down. You have to either enter the house or find the stairs that bring you up. Be extremely careful, the other team starts on the top and can spot you either coming up or where you start.

The best strategy is to run immediately for the door and get just inside. Then, hide in a room for a while and wait for the enemy to come. You can also climb all the way up and get on the top.

Gold: You start on top, throw frags off the sides. Or you can risk shooting downwards. This is not the best alternative as you may be seen and get shot. It's a lot easier staying on top.

Mint
This scenario is a good challenge.

Blue: You start downstairs, and you have two choices:

My favorite is to go outside. Once you're out, turn right and right again. Run along the side until you get to the door. Open it and go in. Open one of the other two doors and go forward. Climb the big "block" with the action button (usually 0 on the keypad). On the right, there is a door, open it. Go in and you will see big paper machines. On top, there are holes where you can see anyone coming from above. In front, you have two doors (you only see one if you don't move). On top, there are another two doors. Shoot anyone you see. No one will know where you are.

On the other hand, you can go upstairs using one of the two stairways. Once you're up, go to the left side of the map until you get to the “prison cells.” Here, you might find the Gold team trying to get out.

Gold: Get out of the room. From there:

You can go to your left and find the stairway. Once you're down, go to the right. At the wall, turn left and go straight. Open the door on the left, go down the “block,” and open one of the doors. Open the other doors and go out. Once you're out, turn left. Be careful here because some people might be outside. Once you're in front of the building, you can get inside.

You can go straight. You will arrive in front of two open doorways, choose one and open the doors until you get to a place where you can go left or right. Go right if you want to get downstairs or go left if you want to stay up. This is hard for Gold because the Blues are positioned for better killing.

**Oil Rig
Another big one that doesn't seem well-suited to multiplayer. I'll work on strategies for a future article.

Road
Ahhh, this is the classic scenario and the favorite of many players. I find the Gold team has a better advantage for spotting the Blue, but the Blue have better positions to wait in for the Gold.

Blue: Run until you get to the big place with a truck. You have three options:

At the end of the small road, as you're getting into the big-spaced area, you will see some big blocks on your right. Get behind the last two and align yourself with the opening. Now crouch, snipe and wait.

When running, stay on your left. Don't go too far. Stay where the left side curves. Back up or go forward until you have a small view of the top left side of the bridge. You won't actually be able to see the bridge itself. Now lie in sniper mode and wait. The Gold team will eventually make themselves visible, unless you're playing with beginners.

This is the more action-packed way of attacking. In front of the truck is a curve you follow that will bring you to an open area. Instead of following the curve, strafe left (hold run) and shoot anyone you see. Don't forget to strafe back right or you'll be shot. See the bridge? People crouch and shoot you as soon as you come out. The Gold team has a shorter distance to go before reaching the bridge, and they will be waiting.

Alternatively, have two players create crossfire and cover each other near the overpass.

Gold: You have four choices, but none of them are really great.

First, you have to know which way to run. You can use the map, or look on both sides. The side you're supposed to go on is the one where there are objects resembling pillars. Go that way.

You can advance a bit and go to your right. There is a little slope you can go up and then snipe the people on the bridge. This method is for wusses.

You can run toward the bridge. Once you are behind the black things on the sides of the bridge, you can strafe left or right (depending which side you're on) and shoot anyone who appears.

You can run on the extreme right until you've reached the top. Be careful, some people can snipe at you from afar. Go to the right until you can see only a small part of the curve. Some people come out there sometimes.

Or, my favorite choice is to run on the left. Once you are on top of the bridge on the left, crouch and wait (make sure you can see part of the curve) and go into sniper mode.

Ship
This one is pretty cool if you know what to do.

Blue: You have the advantage because you start outside, and the Gold team starts in the bottom area. You have one choice:

Get inside, go forward, take the right door, and go straight. Use your map to get to the stairs. Go downstairs. At one end of the bottom floor, you have a big empty space with one door. At the other end, there is a place with two doors and a ladder at the end of the ship. Go to that end. If the people on the opposite team haven't figured out how to get out of the bottom using the ladder, guard the ladder in that room and wait for them to pop up. Use your heartbeat sensor first to check if anyone is on the room. This is hard to explain as you can see.

One of my Blue team contacts says: “Go down the stairs and run! This is a race between the Blues and the Golds. Whoever can make it to the cargo area ladder first, practically wins the match. Run down the stairs, turn left, and then turn right. Keep going straight until you've reached the end of the ship. Now choose either left or right, but when you get to the door, strafe, because unless you don't know the map perfectly, the Golds will have already come up the ladder. If you don't see the Golds, you are doing well. Now zoom in on the ladder and pick them off. You also can chuck frags down the hole.”

Gold: Go up the stairs, and then go around to the other end. Climb the ladder and use your heartbeat sensor to detect anyone coming from the stairs.

One Gold team player notes: “Get up the ladder ASAP, because if you're stuck there, you're dead. Now, once you're up, don't wander around; instead, cover the entrances. When you have four guys up, have one of them climb up between the crates facing your ladder. Some fool always misses that spot. Now you can begin a fair fight.

Skyscraper
This one is pretty cool.

Blue: You start on one of the bottom floors. Use your map to get to the stairs as quickly as possible. Once you take possession of the stairs, you are in a good position. Go to the hall on the lower level in the center of the other halls. If you are opening it from the side that is right in front of the center staircase, there is a shaft in the first room to the right. Shoot the locked door and look up. If anyone is there, you have a good shot at him. If no one is there, start going up the ladders until you reach the top. At this point, you are on top of the whole map. The other team starts here and sometimes, the chicken team members stay here.

Gold:

You start out on top. There is one stairway and one shaft (described in the Blue section above). Both have locked doors so shoot them down. If you choose the shaft, you will go down a series of ladders and end up on the bottom floor of the building. If you choose the stairs, be careful, the other team probably got there first.

Water Ride
This is a kind of big one...

Blue: You start on the side of the building. Shoot the locked doors down and go through them. Use your heartbeat sensor to find the opponents.

Gold: You start in front. I usually go to the left side, all the way to the end, and then right and right again. Open the door or shoot it. Sometimes the other team is still there.
