| "Fighter Sweep has proven to be an interesting and new addition to the ever expanding world of Fighter Ace
. Not only did the realistic physics of the event add a new dimension to the combat itself, but I found my skills as a pilot challenged as well. |
| I'd like to congratulate ALL FA
pilots who played under the demanding conditions posed by Fighter Sweep and thank the Zone for their efforts in constructing the event. See you on your 6 in future events." |

Fighter Sweep
lived up to the hype with over 750 registered participants making it our first realistic event also one of the largest in Fighter Ace
history. Our Fighter Ace
fighter pilots rang in the New Year with some of the fiercest combat to ever hit the Zone! With so many participants we need 4 full sectors to hold all the action.
Both sides started out a bit disorganized in the first frame with many flights being organized on the fly, but things soon settled as command staffs for the US and GE quickly adapting. The Germans skillfully utilized their natural defensive advantages and caught many of the US players in their attacks on the German ground facilities. The Germans dominated the first frame, taking a 26 to -4 lead.
For the second frame the American commanders quickly got their act together, swiftly reorganizing their offense and responding to the lightning quick German defense. The US forces honed in on the German ground targets blasting factories, storage tanks, tank farms and railway facilities before the Germans could respond. Some of the US commanders skillfully sent their forces far to the south to take them from the German radar/map screens and then turned north to hit the facilities with devastating effectiveness. In frame 2 the US dominated play with a massive 21 to 14 point score. Overall the Germans still led 40.6 to 16.4.
The Americans led into two out of the three sectors, but needed to overcome a massive loss in sector 2. In the final frame each side knew that they had to do it here. Both teams settled down and did what they had come to do. The Americans executed terrific attacks and the Germans responded superbly and both teams turned in their best performance of the day in this third and final frame. For most of the frame, the outcome was in doubt. The German players reached deep and pulled out a 44 to 37 win that allowed them to take the overall game 84.6 to 53.4.
Great game all! And special thanks to the people whose hard work made this all possible.
