The Sand Wolf Tribe

Sacred Tenets
  • Thou shalt abide by the twelve roads of the poet, blessed be his memory.
  • Thou shalt always be true to members of the pack, in words and in deeds.
  • Thou shalt assist thy brothers and sisters whenever thou art able.
  • Thou shalt welcome new members to the pack, that the tribe may prosper.
  • Thou shalt endeavor to be known as fierce, loyal, and just, as this is the way of the wolf.
General Information About the Sand Wolf Tribe
The Sand Wolf Tribe was founded by Zakhran al-Zubar, a great shaman and leader. Anyone who swears allegiance to Zakhran al-Zubar, or any other member of the tribe, will be welcomed into the pack. Those who swear fealty to Zakhran himself shall sit upon the Council of Elders. Though the tribe is based upon Gharu'ndim culture, members of any heritage are welcome. All members of the pack are considered family.

Members of the pack are encouraged and expected to help other members, particularly the newcomers to the tribe. This assistance can take many forms, from giving members simple directions to a portal, to equipping them and taking them adventuring. Just be certain not to make anything too easy, as each member of the pack must able to fend for themselves, in order to keep the entire pack strong. Recruit new members to the pack whenever you can, by becoming the mentor to a newcomer. When a newcomer swears allegiance to you, the entire pack grows stronger. Set a shining example for your followers, that they too may acquire new recruits and help lead the tribe to prosperity.

Adventuring fellowships are encouraged, both within the tribal ranks and with others. Invite those who prove themselves worthy to join with the pack. Fellowships led by Sand Wolves are usually called Claws, though this is not always the case. Examples of Claw names include Black Shield Claw, Bloodclaw, and Claw of Justice. Remember the words of the poet: "No one fears a single grain of sand, until they are caught in a sandstorm."

The time may come when a member wishes to split from the pack to form a tribe of their own. This occurrence, though sad, is entirely acceptable. It has been this way since the first tribes roamed the plains. There need not be bad blood between splinter tribes; by cooperating, all packs may achieve prosperity. If you wish to form a tribe of your own, inform your mentor and your followers. You need not break the allegiance to your mentor unless you so desire. If you wish to swear allegiance to another without forming your own tribe, be sure to inform your mentor and your followers before severing the allegiance. Do not bear grudges if any of your followers wish to remain with the pack. If your mentor forms a new tribe or switches allegiances, it is your decision to follow or remain.

Those members of the pack who fall from the protection of the ancients by making a pact with the Hopeslayer shall not be exiled. However, it is expected that you shall only attack others with just cause, and only if other means of arbitration have been exhausted. On the other hand, you have every right to defend yourself and other members of the pack if you are attacked. Never should you kill another member of the pack, unless both have agreed to a duel to the death.

Any disputes between members of the pact should be resolved by adhering to the Sacred Tenets above. Disputes, if unable to be settled, should be taken to your respective mentors. This process should continue up the chain of command until a decision is reached. The Council of Elders shall be the highest authority of the tribe. Zakhran al-Zubar and those swearing allegiance directly to him shall sit upon the Council of Elders.

A final note: It is encouraged, but not required, that you immerse yourself as entirely as possible within the environment of Dereth. This means leaving "the world beyond the portals" as far behind as possible. Make an effort to play the role of the character you created, not just play the game. May your blade be ever honed, your aim ever true.
