New Updates to Zone Bridge!

Here are the new updates to the Zone Bridge:

New Convention Cards and Updates to Previous Convention Cards

There are four new convention cards added to the default cards option: Classic Standard, ACOL-Dutch, Basic SAYC, and Full SAYC. To view these new convention cards, click the conv. card button on the Bridge table to bring up the convention card window. In the menu bar, click Default Cards and select one of the new convention cards from the drop-down menu.

We've also updated ACOL-Standard and 2/1 Game Force convention cards.

New X-IMP Scoring in the IMP Game Rooms

In the IMP game rooms, we've changed the IMP scoring method to X-IMP. So when you play in an IMP game room, the game will be scored using the X-IMP method. The X-IMP scoring allows players to receive fractional IMPs; so during duplicate games, the winning partnership is clearly determined.

How X-IMP scores are calculated

First, calculate your partnership's IMP pairs score by taking your score and subtract every other score from it, look the difference up on the IMP table, and sum all these IMPs. Then take the total number of IMPs and divide by the number of pairs to get the average IMPs for your partnership. This is called the X-IMP, or cross IMP, method.

Saving Your Bridge Hands

You can now save hands in 2 different formats: the Zone *.log format and *.pbn format. PBN, which is short for Portable Bridge Notation, is a format used by other Bridge games for viewing saved hands. See Portable Bridge Notation website for a full description of PBN.

Note: In Zone Bridge, you can only save a hand(s) before and during that hand. You cannot save a hand(s) after the hand is completed. Bridge hands are defaulted to save as log format, which is more readable. You can also save your hands in .pbn format, which is evolving into an international recording standard for Bridge hands.

How to save your Bridge hands:
  1. Click the options button on the Bridge table to bring up the Options window.
  2. Click Choose File, in the Deal Log field, to select the file where you want you Bridge hands saved. If you want to create a new file, click Choose File, type the name of your new file and click Save.
  3. Select Just this hand (to save only the current hand played) or select All hands (to save every hand you play). If you select No logging, then no Bridge hands will be saved.
Loading Your Saved Bridge Hands

You can now load hands from a PBN file and play them. This is an excellent feature for teachers to prepare a lesson, or for players to play hands from PBN saved events.

Note: Only the Host and the Bridge Club instructor can load a new hand. And only hands saved in .pbn format maybe loaded and played. The Zone Bridge Club only loads the hands; it doesn't load the bidding or the play.

To load Bridge hands:
  1. Click the options button on the Bridge table to bring up the Options window.
  2. Click Load Hand. Select the folder where you've saved your Bridge hands, click the folder to select and click Open. Once a new hand is loaded, the current game is cancelled and your selected hand is dealt to the players. Hands may not be loaded in tournament rooms.
Reset the Bidding Please

Accidentally clicked the wrong button during bidding? Wish you could restart the bidding? In response to requests for the ability to correct bidding mistakes, we have included a Reset Bidding button for the table host. Clicking this button will start the auction over at the beginning.

Check out the Chat Area

The message boxes that lets you know when someone has joined the table, someone has left the table, someone loaded a new convention card, and when the host re-deals the cards, has been relocated. These messages will now appear in the chat area.
